Watched Christmas Special last night and exactly that happened to me. I had had a fair bit of fizz and wine by then but i did have to check when the end credits rolled.
Fantastic show

Plenty of time on my hands at the moment PD but thanks for pointing out how I could potentially increase my productivity.

I'm thinking of outsourcing my posting on WHO to India anyway.

I watched the Christmas special last night and thought it was superb. Two new bit-part characters that almost steal the show, the girl mechanic and the bloke who works at the British Museum.

The greatest thing about this show is how subtle it is. Can you imagine any other other country coming up with an idea like 'the curse of the gold' and not tearing the arse out of it? Or Lance's lottery win in the first series or the Saxon long-boat?

It's fantastic how right at the end of the second series before the Christmas special they're standing right over the gold that you see in the titles every week, the girl draws an X in the dirt exactly where you know it's buried and you're still not sure if he'll dig it up or just go to the pub. Both outcomes are equally likely.

An episode of Dectectorists seems to last for about 10 minutes and I can never quite believe it when I see the end titles. That's the sign of a great TV programme.

Both series are on Putlocker.

Toby Jones is GOOD. Rachel Stirling's arse is quite splendid.

I meant to add that I also enjoyed the references to Essex locales that I know or have lived in.

Re: Detectorists, BBC4
I'm a big fan of this and the second series has been even better than the first one, IMO. It's been a pretty poor year for British comedy but this has been about the best thing going.

Toby Jones is such a good actor as well

It looks like it's been left open for a third series but, I'm not sure if it would top the other two.

Re: Detectorists, BBC4
Am waiting for them all to appear again somewhere, ad missed the first series. Problem is the BBC dont give their programmes up very quickly to things like Netflix.

Already know I'm getting car share for Xmas, so can't wait to watch them again.

Violator - Why? Sometimes it's better just to leave a show at the top rather than drag it out just for the sake of it.

The Office
Fawlty Towers
Extras
Phoenix Nights.

All only 12 episodes..

Love it, but the 'acting' of the German bloke in the second series marred it a tad.

Download 'Capital', it was on last week. You'll see Stirling's arse. In fact, completely naked (sadly, only from behind).

You're welcome.

There's certainly been a few players over the years that I'd like to see submerged in mud in the Essex countryside

Re: Detectorists, BBC4
I wonder if back in the mists of time someone at WHU dug up some treasure and never gave anything back ? That would explain a lot !!
